Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha - story ( 13 episodes )

Yuuno Scraia is a boy from another world with magical abilities who came to Earth in order to collect the Jewel Seeds that due to an unfortunate incident, now lay scattered over the planet. The Jewel Seed contains great magical power and using it can be dangerous as it has a price. In one of Yunno-kun's efforts to collect a Jewel Seed he uses too much magic and almost dies. He reverts to the form of a ferret to save himself and magically calls out for help.
Takamachi Nanoha a third grader elementary school girl hears his call for help and goes in search of him. After some adventure, she decides to help Yunno in his quest to collect all the Jewel Seeds in order to keep her friends and city safe. To aid Nanoha, Yunno grants her the Raging Heart, a magical jewel that transforms her into Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha and so her story begins.

Several months after Nanoha first became a Magical Girl, she still is unable to personally meet with her new close friend, Fate Testarossa, who is being tried in the Space / Time Administration Bureau for her association in the Lost Logia case. They still communicate through video-mail and hope to see each other in-person once again. Their reunion is not a happy one, unfortunately, as several people who call themselves "Velka-Type Knights" battle Nanoha above the city. Their objective is to fill the pages of the Book of Darkness by stealing the magical power of anyone they can find. Nanoha and Fate must once again team up to stop their plans and save the world.

 Takamachi Nanoha - A sweet girl, perhaps a little too trusting, but has faith in herself and her friends. Nanoha is a rarity in that she comes from Earth but has a surprisingly strong aptitude for magic. Wielding her wand, Raising Heart, she finds her calling in protecting her friends with magic. She awaits the return of her friend, Fate, but it comes just as she is ambushed by Vita for her linker core, and she is thrown into the fray once again.

 Fate Testarossa - After the events of the previous season, Fate is acquitted as an accessory to her mother's crime and recruited by the Time-Space Administration Bureau. Quiet and reflective, she serves as a contrast to her dearest friend, Nanoha. Her familiar, Arf, and her device, Bardiche, are the only ones that were always there for her. She is adopted by Lindy Hallaoun after her abusive, insane mother commits suicide rather than be captured in the first season. 

 Hayate Yagami - Hayate, a sweet wheelchair-bound orphan, is under the care of the Wolkenritter, though they keep their battles from her; she knows that the completion of the Book of Darkness will grant her vast power, but does not want it at the expense of the lives of others. However, the Book of Darkness is feeding off her own life force, causing her paralysis, and will eventually kill her if it is not completed... Hayate becomes fast friends with Suzuka after she helps her around the library, which may cause trouble if their respective friends learn that they have been fighting each other

 Yuuno-kun - Yuuno is a magic-user from the Garden of Time, around the same age as Nanoha. Despite his years, he worked as an archaeologist and discovered a set of ancient and powerful artifacts ( the magical term for this is Lost Logia) known as the Jewel Seeds. When the Time-Space Administration Bureau lost the Jewel Seeds, Yuuno went to Earth to track them down; fleeing from monsters, he was injured, and transformed himself into a ferret. He acts as Nanoha's familiar, though his true form is that of a magical human and she did not create him.

 Arf - Fate's outspoken dog-woman familiar. Her despisal of Precia is mutual, but she cannot do anything to protect Fate from her mother. Arf instead takes out her anger on her enemies. She is very kind to Fate and somewhat protective of her

Zafira - The Wolkenritter's familiar, a large grey wolf. He transforms into a muscular dark-skinned man, and in battles, always finds himself facing Arf.

 Signum - Signum is the third of the Wolkenritter to appear. She has a long pink ponytail and appears to be the oldest of the group. Lvateinn, her chain-link sword, is a powerful weapon that crosses Fate and Bardiche in every battle. Signum, unlike Vita, keeps calm at almost all times and, though she has a strong will to absorb her enemies' Linker Cores into the Book, Signum nonetheless respects their level of power and does not take them lightly. She has an extensive knowledge of how the mind works, which is probably what made her the group's leader, besides her strength.

 Shamal - Shamal is the second of the Wolkenritter to appear. Being Yuuno's counterpart, she does not actually fight, but uses her ring devices to defend, create portals, absorb victims' Linker Cores into the Book of Darkness, and the like. The blonde acts as the 'mother' of the group, doing the shopping, worrying excessively over the others' well-being, and constructing excuses to Hayate as to why they're out so often ("The grocery store doesn't have our brand of olive oil"). She knows that Hayate does not want them to fight anyone for her, but it is still no question that they must.

 Vita - A hot-tempered young redhead with a complex about her rabbit hat. She begins to question why she doesn't remember the fates of her former masters. Always pitted against Nanoha in battles, she uses her mallet, Graf Eisen, to fight. Vita arrogantly refuses to call Nanoha by her real name, always inventing some variation. She is the first of the Wolkenritter to appear.

 Shinobu Tsukimura  - Suzuka's sister and Kyouya are shy around one another, and appear to be in the early stages of a relationship

 Suzuka Tsukimura - Suzuka, Alisa's best friend, is similarly rich and owns a lot of cats. Her entire household, including domestic staff, has purple hair. Suzuka is much more soft-spoken than Arisa, and wants to become an engineer.

 Alisa Bannings - Alisa is an outspoken, dog-loving and multimillionaire. She gets angry at Nanoha halfway through the series for keeping secrets from her friends.

 Shiro Takamachi - Nanoha's father. He may have the magical aptitude like his youngest daughter. He owns and works at the Midori-ya  cafe but also coaches a kid's soccer team.

 Momoko Takamachi  - Nanoha's mother. She works at the Midori-ya cafe with her husband.

 Kyuya Takamachi - Kyouya, who will become one of the main characters of Triangle Hearts, is an adept user of swords and very close to his sister Miyuki

 Miyuki Takamachi - Miyuki, like her brother, is also a lead character of Triangle Hearts and is also similarly proficient with swords. Nanoha observes her technique and uses it to improve her skills with Raising Heart.

 Chrono Haraoun - Also known as 'Chrono Hallaoun. Chrono is a young officer of the Time-Space Administration Bureau, and wields a staff. His father is absent (revealed in the second season to be dead) and he lives with his mother, Lindy. He develops a crush on Nanoha, which leads him into conflict with Yuuno.

 Lindy Haraoun - Also known as Lindy Hallaoun. Lindy, the kind-spirited first officer of the spaceship Asura, works for the Time-Space Administration Bureau and is currently assigned to the case of tracking down the Jewel Seeds.

 Amy Limietta - Amy also works on the Asura, and is a good friend to Chrono and Lindy.

Raising Heart - Nanoha's intelligent device. Also known as Raging Heart in the fansubs. She calls Nanoha "master" and speaks only English. After being badly damaged in the first engagement against Vita and Graf Eisen, she insisted on being retrofitted with the catridge system with the rounds loaded in magazines that look like the ones used in automatic weapons. As an intelligent device, she provides assistance and advise in the processing of magical attacks and fire control. Her special attack is Starlight Breaker and the auto-guard (a magic that activates when the wielder is unable to respond to danger due to shock or injury) is "Protection"

Bardiche - Fate's intelligent device. He calls Fate "sir" and speaks only English. After being badly damaged in the first fight with levantine, he also is retrofitted at his request with a revolver-style cartridge system. His special attack is Zeus Zanber and the auto-guard is "Defenser".

Reinforce - This mysterious woman is both a familiar, a scary demon-winged woman, and a device, a golden staff.But she is also the true form of the Book of Darkness. Hayate, when she separates the virus from the rest of the Book and turns the spirit into a more normal-looking version of her familiar form, gives her the name Reinforce and takes her on as a partner. Then, Hayate joins the fight as a magical, able-bodied blonde with the full power of Reinforce, helping Nanoha, Fate and company destroy the virus that made her partner a power-draining monster. Reinforce's special attack is Ragnarok Breaker. In the epilogue, she gains a chibi form, much like the puppy forms of Arf and Zafira.

S2U - Chrono's 'storage device'. Despite superficial appearances, this type is actually much more common among mages than intelligent devices - the general type is also used by the regular enforcement officers. These lack AI and have a single form. On the other hand, they supposedly process magic faster and the mage can't become overly reliant on the AI. In the last fight, Chrono exchanges it for Durandal, a new storage device optimized for freezing.

Levantine - Signum's armed device. It appears to have a personality but no programmed gender, and speaks only German. Also known as Levantine in the fansubs. Its regular form is a sword. Expending cartridges, it can transform into a chain-whip or a bow.

Klarer Wind - Shamal's armed device. These four rings are never used for combat, but can create portals, find Linker Cores and heal allies.

Graf Eisen - Vita's armed device. It appears to have no programmed gender, and speaks only German. Its general purpose form is a two-sided hammer that distantly resembles a polo mallet and handles up to 4 circular bombs (Swallow Flyer), or create a massive sonic shockwave (Iron Howl) as a distraction. Expending cartridges, it can also transform into a rocket-powered hammer with a sharpened tip, or become gigantic.
